Spain’s Constitutional Chronicle in 2023 analyses the year’s constitutional legislation, as well as the main rulings of the Constitutional Court. In terms of legislative activity, several laws of particular impact in the area of fundamental rights and public freedoms were passed, such as the Law for the Protection of Animal Rights and Welfare; the Law for the real and effective equality of trans people and for the guarantee of the rights of LGTBI people; and the Organic Law of the University System. It should also be noted that in 2023 the creation of the first subject of Constitutional Education in the Spanish education system was announced, specifically in the Region of Murcia. In this sense, the President of this Community, Mr. López Miras, announced in an appearance on 5 December, on the occasion of the 43rd Anniversary of the Constitution, that, for the academic year 2024/2025, the subject ‘Spanish Constitution and European Union’ would be programmed as an optional subject for students in the 3rd year of ESO.

La Chronique constitutionnelle de l’Espagne pour 2023 analyse la législation constitutionnelle de l’année ainsi que les principaux arrêts de la Cour constitutionnelle. En termes d'activité législative, plusieurs lois ayant un impact particulier dans le domaine des droits fondamentaux et des libertés publiques ont été adoptées, telles que la loi pour la protection des droits et du bien-être des animaux, la loi pour l’égalité réelle et effective des personnes transgenres et pour la garantie des droits des personnes LGTBI, et la loi organique du système universitaire. Il convient également de noter qu’en 2023, la création de la première matière d’éducation constitutionnelle dans le système éducatif espagnol a été annoncée, en particulier dans la région de Murcie. En ce sens, le président de cette Communauté, M. López Miras, a annoncé le 5 décembre, à l’occasion du 43e anniversaire de la Constitution, que, pour l’année universitaire 2024-2025, la matière “Constitution espagnole et Union européenne” serait programmée comme matière optionnelle pour les élèves de 3e année du secondaire.

La Crónica Constitucional de España en 2023 analiza la legislación constitucional del año, así como los principales pronunciamientos del Tribunal Constitucional. En cuanto a la actividad legislativa, se aprobaron varias leyes de especial incidencia en el ámbito de los derechos fundamentales y las libertades públicas, como la Ley de Protección de los Derechos y el Bienestar de los Animales; la Ley para la igualdad real y efectiva de las personas trans y para la garantía de los derechos de las personas LGTBI; y la Ley Orgánica del Sistema Universitario. Asimismo, cabe destacar que en 2023 se anunció la creación de la primera asignatura de Educación Constitucional en el sistema educativo español, concretamente en la Región de Murcia. En este sentido, el Presidente de esta Comunidad, Sr. López Miras, anunció en una comparecencia el 5 de diciembre, con motivo del 43 Aniversario de la Constitución, que, para el curso académico 2024/2025, se programaría la asignatura “Constitución Española y Unión Europea” como materia optativa para los alumnos de 3º de ESO.
