Professor, Director of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences 

A. Gromyko is a Russian Professor and specialist in British Studies, European integration and international relations. He has graduated from the Faculty of History of Lomonosov Moscow State University, with a Doctor of Science in History. He has been working at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Science since 2000 and in 2005 he assumed his duties as the Director of the Institute, of which he is a corresponding member.

He is the founder of the Center of British Studies, and headed it until 2014. He is an Associate Researcher at Ruskin College and an Associate Visitor at St. Antony’s College at the University of Oxford. He has written over 100 academic papers. He is an Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Contemporary Europe and he has published more than 100 papers. He is a European expert of the Russkiy Mir Foundation and the president of the Russian Association of European Studies. He is also a member of the Presidium of the Free Economic Society of Russia and Chairman of the Academic Council of the Institute of Europe. He was the award-winner of the Russian Science Support Foundation for 2004 and 2006.
