ALFA (América Latina - Formación Académica) is a regional cooperation programme funded by the European Commission and aimed at reinforcing ties between the European Union and Latin America through the exchange of experiences and the creation of networks. The ALFA II DIKIA II Project “Rule of Law and Fundamental Rights of Citizens: The European and American Conventions on Human Rights” aims at developing the institutional cooperation and the scientific and technical training within the Higher Education Institutions of the European Union and Latin America. The overall ambition of the Project is to foster cooperation among those institutions by promoting an in-depth dialogue on the theory and practices related to the protection of Human Rights.

The results of this project have been published in two consecutive volumes of the European Public Law Series.

Volume XCIII (Vol. A) features the results of the research carried out by the beneficiaries of the Project (both from the European Union and Latin America) during their fellowship in the member institutions. In fact, each academic institution of the network provided during the academic year classes attended by students of Human Rights coming from other member institutions, in order to conduct a comparative study on the issue of the protection of Human Rights and, therefore, to foster the dissemination of knowledge on this issue.
