The Institute for the Mediterranean of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) organized during the year 2018 a series of events at the Plaka premises of the EPLO.
The thematic areas of these events, either Lectures or Roundtable Discussions, concern two central topics, which deal with the surroundings of the Mediterranean, on the one hand, and with today’s and tomorrow’s challenges, on the other hand.
This volume comprises (papers are either in Greek or in English) the proceedings of these events whereas the third section comprises a report at the Second Symposium of Rhodes-Kastellorizo, organized by the Hellenic Society of International Law and International Relations on September 27-30, 2018.
Within the framework of the first topic, a Lecture was given on January 23, 2018 by the Mayor of Odessa Mr. Gennadiy Trukhanov on the theme “Odessa, a European City in Ukraine”.
On October 11, 2018 a Lecture was given by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova Mr. Tudor Ulianovschi on the theme “The Foreign Policy of the Republic of Moldova”.
On October 15, 2018 a Lecture was given by the Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Ambassador Michael B. Christides on the theme “The Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation as a Pillar of Cooperation in Northeastern Europe”.
Within the framework of the second topic, a Roundtable Discussion was held on February 2, 2018, on the theme “Mediterranean and Sustainable Development”, with the participation of University Professors and of European Union officials.
On February 5, 2018 a Lecture was given by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Mr. Franco Frattini on the theme “European Policies: Immigration and Asylum”.
On May 3, 2018 a Roundtable Discussion was held on the theme “Energy Routes in the Eastern Mediterranean” with the participation of former Ministers, Ambassadors and University Professors.
Finally, the third section comprises the report on the theme “Law, Politics and Interests in the Eastern Mediterranean” at the Second Symposium of Rhodes-Kastellorizo, organized by the Hellenic Society of International Law and International Relations on September 27-30, 2018.
