The Institute for the Mediterranean of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) presents in the volume at hand (papers included are either in Greek or in English) the proceedings of the events it organized, at the Plaka premises of the EPLO, during the years 2019 and 2020. Even if, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, several events of the Institute for the Mediterranean had to be cancelled, this volume comprises the events of two years on two thematic areas: The Mediterranean and the World. In this volume are also published papers presented within the framework of an online Conference with the participation of actors from Europe and Israel and in which the Institute for the Mediterranean also took part, on the theme “25 Years to the Barcelona Process”.
Within the framework of the first thematic area, a Roundtable Discussion was held on February 19, 2019 on the theme “10th Anniversary of the Union for the Mediterranean”, H.E. Mr. Nasser Kamel, Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean being the keynote speaker to the event.
On January 29, 2020 a Roundtable Discussion on the theme “The Eastern Mediterranean at the Epicenter” was held.
On November 26, 2020 an online Conference was held on the theme “25 Years to the Barcelona Process”, with the participation of actors from Europe and Israel and in which the Institute for the Mediterranean also took part.
Within the framework of the second thematic area, a Roundtable Discussion was held on January 28, 2019, on the theme “European Values – Challenges and Perspectives”.
On December 11, 2019 an Event-Discussion was held on the theme “International Organizations – Theory and Practice” on the occasion of the presentation of Ambassador Sotirios Varouxakis’s book titled “Théorie générale, juridique et politique, des Organisations Internationales”.
On February 11, 2020 a Lecture was given by Mr. Simon Tay, Chairman, Singapore Institute of International Affairs, Associate Professor, National University of Singapore Faculty of Law, Ambassador-Designate to Greece, on the theme “ASEAN, Asia and Europe: The Changing Dynamics of Cooperation”.
