This chronicle analyzes how the Slovak Freedom of Information Act of 2000, as a legal policy instrument, successfully implemented the constitutional right to information as guaranteed in the 1992 Slovak Constitution and fundamentally changed relations between state and citizens, by guaranteeing broad access to information about public matters. The chronicle discusses the introduction of the law, its approval and implementation phase, focusing predominantly on the implementation at the central level, the role of the courts and future prospects of free access to information.
