The Workshop discussed several dimensions of the migration crisis, notably the problems encountered by the European Union and its Member States to apply respectively the Schengen regime regarding external border controls and the Dublin system regarding the designation of the Member State responsible to examine applications for international protection. The Workshop furthermore discussed the future perspectives of the overall asylum and immigration cooperation at EU level and, in that context, options to improve that cooperation. Also a presentation was given about the Police Cooperation Convention for Southeast Europe (PCC SEE).
