This chronicle focuses on the importance of the freedom of speech and expression in a democratic society. It underlines that the freedom of speech and expression is one of the most important rights which are recognized by international law. The chronicle also draws attention to Georgia's intention to adopt legislation and to establish such environment in Georgian civil and political society that will fully answer the main requirements of internationally recognized standards and principles. In this context, the Georgian law on freedom of speech and expression and the main provisions of the Georgian Constitution, which protects the freedom of speech on the territory of Georgia, are being discussed. Each legislative norm reviewed in the chronicle reveals the Georgian aspiration to become a fully legitimate member of international society, which firmly stands to protect the fundamental human rights.
Cette chronique met l'accent sur l'importance de la liberté d'expression dans une société démocratique. Elle souligne que la liberté d'expression est parmi les droits les plus importants reconnus par le droit international. Cette chronique tire l'attention également sur le fait que la Géorgie envisage l'adoption de législation et l'établissement d'un environnement dans la société civile et politique du pays tels qui seront capables de satisfaire entièrement les obligations principales des standards et principes reconnus sur le plan international. Dans ce cadre, sont donc discutées la Loi géorgienne sur la liberté d'expression et les dispositions principales de la Constitution géorgienne, protégeant la liberté d'expression sur le territoire de la Géorgie. Chaque norme législative examinée dans cette chronique révèle l'aspiration de la Géorgie de devenir un membre entièrement légitime de la société internationale, qui se tient fermement à la protection des droits fondamentaux de l'homme.
