Constitutional Defects and Continuing Provision of Privileges in Türkiye

Mehmet Semih Gemalmaz

If there is indeed no room for fascism within the Council of Europe (CE) and if democracy, rule of law, a constitutional system based on fundamental human rights and freedoms are indeed the founding pillars of the CE, there might be no room for Türkiye within this Organization in so far as the existing constitutional system is in force and the current political power continues to rule the country.

Keywords: Republic of Türkiye; constitutional system; shortcomings of the democratic regime; threats to the democratic standards of the Council of Europe
