The Spanish chronicle of Constitutional Law on the year 2008 reviews the most significant legal events occurred during this period. Among them, the following can be pointed out: the holding of elections to the Spanish Parliament on March 9; the investiture of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero as President of the Government; the scant legislative activity carried out by the Parliament; the decree-laws in the economic field adopted to fight against the economic crisis; and the holding of elections to the Andalusian Parliament. In the jurisprudential field, special attention should be drawn to the Constitutional Court Ruling 50/2008, where the appeal for legal protection is solved against a judicial ruling dissolving some parliamentary groups, the Constitutional Court Rulings 49/2008 and 101/2008, where it is declared constitutional the participation of Regional Parliaments in the parliamentary system of election of Constitutional Court Judges, and the Constitutional Court Ruling 103/2008, which recognizes that the call for a referendum is an exclusive competence of the State.
