Consent Mechanism in the Life with Social Robots

The consent mechanism is set up to give the steer of personal data control to the data subjects. The General Data Protection Regulation lays down legal rules to make the consent mechanism work in an efficient way. Purpose limitation and informing data subjects about it are some of the initial requirements to ensure valid consent. However, developments in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics make it hard to determine and to specify data processing purposes. What might be the data processing purposes of a Social Robot interacting with humans to make their life better? Although full public appearance of Social Robots has not been reached yet, clarifying the data processing purposes of such robots shall be one of the initial tasks of the data controllers.
Le mécanisme de consentement est établi afin de donner aux personnes concernées la gestion du contrôle des données personnelles. Le Règlement Général sur la Protection des Données établit des règles juridiques pour l’opération efficace du mécanisme de consentement. La limitation des finalités et l’information des personnes concernées sur ces règles sont certaines des exigences initiales afin d’assurer un consentement valide. Cependant, il devient difficile de découvrir et de préciser les finalités du traitement des données à cause des développements dans le domaine de l’Intelligence Artificielle et de la Robotique. Quelles pourraient être les finalités du traitement des données d’un Robot Social qui interagit avec un homme pour améliorer sa vie? Bien que l’apparition publique complète des Robots Sociaux ne soit pas encore atteinte, clarifier les finalités du traitement des données de ces robots doit être une des tâches initiales des responsables du traitement des données.
