The Creation of an Independent Authority
so that the Greek Legal Order Complies with EC Law
and in order to Establish a Balance
between Independence and Accountability:
The Case of the Hellenic National Telecommunications
and Post Commission (EETT)

Vassilios Kondylis

Lecturer at the Law School of the University of Athens, EETT’s Legal Advisor

The creation of the Hellenic National Telecommunications and Post Commission (EETT) is a measure taken by the Hellenic Authorities, in order to comply with EC Law in the telecommunications and postal sector. The creation of an Independent Authority so that the Greek legal order complies with EC Law and in order to establish a balance between Independence and Accountability calls for both a brief review of the institution’s creation and evolution and the pinpointing of those elements of the institutional framework that can ensure its independence and accountability.
